We visited them three days after we have reintegrated them with the community.
We have found a supportive employer for them. They are now working in a local restaurant. Their boarding house is located in a nice community. Their work terms are good. They are allowed to continue their studies; they will see the other girls from the Round Home every Friday in the University, when they take their regular exams. Their employer gave them an allowance on their first day of work, to tide them over till payday.
They’re not wearing pink anymore; they’re out of the sanctuary. They now don the colors of the community, with confidence.
Several months ago, we took them from the community, hurt, broken. One has become cynical about life and about people. The other one wanted to end her life. Both have had extremely tragic childhoods.
Now we give them back to the community, healed, strong, able to look after themselves, and wanting to change the community in their own ways. One has concrete plans establish a foundation for girls like her. The other one is determined to be a social worker and counsel families and children.
The girls are re-writing our mission in aftercare. We are not only restoring victims. We are molding restored children to be restorers of a broken world.
Congratulations Girls. We are so proud of you!
